Manufacturer Info: Price Zoning System
It's a hard truth about commercial buildings: one thermostat cannot possibly keep an occupied space comfortable. There are countless office buildings, museums, hospitals, and other commercial buildings that use a single thermostat to control multiple rooms. The result is usually a frigid, uncomfortable employee in one office and a sweaty, uncomfortable employee in another.
Zoning isn't a new concept in commercial HVAC, and there are many manufacturers who offer the technology to properly control the indoor temperatures of our commercial buildings. However, some systems might be better than others. Let's take a look at the Price Industries Zoning System.
The Price Zoning System is designed to be used with any constant volume or VAV rooftop unit, ranging from 2 to 25 tons. The Price Rooftop Unit Controller (PRTU) in the Zoning System is a robust and easy-to-use controller for end users in buildings with occupied spaces up to 50,000 sq. ft. These units offer plug-and-play connections for MS/TP BACnet and, when networked properly, can control up to 30 different building zones.
The controller has a built-in motion sensor along with the ability to set a weekly schedule for occupied/unoccupied times.
Precise monitoring of individual space temperatures is ongoing through the Price Prodigy® Digital VAV Diffuser system. Using the room, duct, and setpoint temperatures, supply air is modulated by the Prodigy to maintain comfort levels. Well-suited for use in retrofit applications, the Prodigy can be used to replace traditional diffusers and provide improved occupant comfort through dynamic monitoring and control of room temperature.
The Price Power Module (PPM) supports up to 15 Prodigy Master units and associated Prodigy Drones.
Price Digital Thermostats are available for space requirements and a Price Web Server can be implemented to monitor the system either locally or remotely via the internet.
Whatever the comfort needs of small to mid-size buildings, the Price Zoning System is a strong consideration for either retrofit applications or new construction. This video by Price Industries gives a quick overview of how the zoning system works to boost occupant comfort efficiently.
If you have questions about whether or not a Price Zoning System would be appropriate for your application, please contact your local manufacturer's rep to discuss your requirements.
